Ghost Writer
Things that make you go "Hmmm". Not really for the conspiracy-minded -- well, you'll feel vindicated, but those near and dear to you will pop you one in the mouth when this movie sets you off. Again. Not completely an edge-of-your-seat thriller, but it does hold your interest ... and possesses one of my favourite endings to a movie. Verdict: Movie Rental.

Shutter Island
I really despise Leo. If someone showed you a picture of him with the words "Pedophile" typed under it, I dare you not to think "Looks like it." Really despise him. But it was either see this movie, or see The Crazies ... and I gambled there would be fewer blood-soaked pitch forks in this one. Overall, it was a good choice. Sadly, I think the filmmakers telegraphed one of the twists much much much MUCH too obviously really really REALLY early in the film (like, they hit the audience over the head with it in the third or fourth scene), so I just waited for when the twist would be revealed. There is something to be said, however, for the fact that I enjoyed the movie while waiting; and there was another twist that wasn't telegraphed or obvious that seemed to redeem the story, so it ended on a high note for me. Verdict: Movie Rental
